Are you restless like me?

Jenna's former blog. It will still be here, but she will not be here.

I think my baby is a communist.

I went to the Street Fair, I still don't know why they had one in September. Then Lani, Lindsay, and I went to the Hof Brau to eat. I had a grilled cheese and pumpkin pie.

Classes are going well. I get really tired by the end of the week though. History would be better if there were some better people in there, Dwyer's cool though. I still haven't done any work in Haypress.

I think I might be going to Pier 39 with Lauren on Saturday, join us?. And maybe the Sun Gallery on Friday.

Time to write out an argument between a social darwinist and communist about Bill Gates and his money.

Comments:
Social Darwinist? Did those not 'die out' in the last century with Fascist, colonialism and imperialism?

I would be interested to read that argument.

It was an assignment for my U.S. history class, we had to make up a dialogue.

I'm sure there are still a few around though. And there are plenty of fascism and imperialism out there.

Do you remember that in the rush for colonies during the Victorian era, nations or the Great Powers did believe in the survival of the fittest society. And their society's superiority can be achieved through colonisation and I guess, war?

I don't know.

Hey, have you read Paul Kennedy's 'The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers'? If you have, what do you think of it?

We were actually studying how in the beginning of the 1900's Americans felt that the poor deserved to be poor because they didn't work hard enough. This led to your robber-barons, the company owners who had all the money and practically owned their employees. Same thing with the entire country and its colonies a couple decades before that, and over in Europe during the Industrial Revolution.

No, I haven't read that. I'm not into political books at this point, and I don't even really like history.

Yes, I know. The Union Pacific and other robber barons. Pretty interesting really. There is, of course, the 'conquest' and occupation of the Philippines.

May I know why you are taking this class? Is it a mandatory one?

I have always found history to be exciting and it is just that teachers, especially history teachers are guilty of not conveying the essence, they mangle history. Well, that's just me. I love history. I have even sketched knights, castles, and infantry because of my interest in history. Heheh.

It's mandatory.

I'm only a junior in highschool, so I don't get that much of a choice when it comes to classes.

Ahhh... I see. You have a whole fun education ahead of you! Enjoy!

And, of course, follow your heart. Learn what you want to learn.
